This iconic work from 1891 by Danish Symbolist painter Harald Slott-Møller captures a vibrant and idealized Scandinavian summer scene. Titled "Danish Landscape", the composition is sharply divided between the brilliant blue sky punctuated by stylized, blush-tinted cumulus clouds and a vast field of golden, ripe wheat.

The foreground is dominated by the meticulously rendered, almost metallic golden stalks of wheat, giving the field a luminous, textured quality that contrasts with the smooth application of the sky. A lone stork soars through the center, its wings outstretched, acting as a visual bridge between the heaven and the earth. The horizon line is marked by a deep blue band of water and a dark green strip of trees, grounding the luminous, almost mystical quality of the landscape. The painting embodies the artistic shift towards Symbolism and National Romanticism prevalent in Denmark at the time.
